Lyrics

I'm leaving in the morning on a one way track. Shooting for the stars and I ain't coming back. Banking on 190 one night stands for a room out on the highway and some beer for the band.

They told me when they get me, they're gonna put me in the can. I told them not to bother, I'm a long gone man. Times are getting heavy and I'm gonna make a stand with a guitar on my shoulder and a pen in my hand.

I'm gonna take a while on the open road. Been sitting so long I'm about to blow my load. I need a lonesome highway with nowhere to go but a shitty little beer joint with a hard wood floor.

Every caged bird wants to fly free. There's too many people on these crowded city streets. I'm wanted by the future and I'm haunted by the past so I'm leaving in the morning and I'm never coming back.

They told me when they get me, they're gonna put me in the can. I told them not to bother, I'm playing in the band. Times are getting heavy and I'm gonna make a stand with a guitar on my shoulder and a pen in my hand.
